The Difference Between Hot And Cold Water Blasting
In order to effectively clean your surfaces or prepare them for renovation or upkeep like painting, there are several different methods to choose from. For many, water blasting is the right fit since it is environmentally safe and inexpensive in comparison to other surface preparation methods. Diotte Coating Services offers both cold and hot water blasting depending on their clients needs and what the scope of the project is.
Cold Water Blasting
Cold water blasting depends on pressurized cold water to clean and strip away dirt on surfaces. This cleaning method relies on the sheer force and targeted power of water that is jettisoned at high speed onto a surface and has the added benefit of being effective without the need to heat the water. It also means you do not have to deal with the added cost that maintenance to the heating machine adds on to your final cost. For typical cleaning or for simple surface preparation, cold water blasting could offer a solution that is both cost effective and time efficient.
Hot Water Blasting
Hot water blasting is simply pressurized water that is also heated in order to better strip away dirt and built up gunge. Think of it in an example at home: dishes washed in hot water are easier to clean, and more thoroughly cleaned at that, than dishes washed in cold water. The water is first passed through the pressure pump and then it is heated either via heating coil or metal tubing. The vortex or cyclic spin of the pressurized water allows for even heating and maximum exposure to the heating flame generated by fuel such as diesel or propane. In electrical models, a heating coil is immersed in the water tank.
Once the water reaches temperature, it will be pushed out of the machine through the nozzle tipped wand to allow for cleaning or surface preparation. This method is most effective when used for clean up of oil or grease based grime. This is a more costly method but it offers other added benefits such as a decrease in labour intensity and cost savings in terms of detergent used.
